Fit out a new developer's shell office building to centralise the whole of Honda Motor Europe’s staff resulting from the relocation of staff from three existing
offices into one headquarters.
The programme involved: -
Alteration and fit out of 100,000 sq ft over six floors and two separate wings to provide 500 desk stat
The fitting out also included meeting rooms, conference facilities and a full service staff restaurant which required considerable alterations to the structure of the developer’s shell
World of Honda corporate reception and waiting area.
Major alterations to the existing base build services installations to suit the cellular office layout and a substantial ICT investment connecting not only Honda’s international operations but also the dealership networks.
This was the largest staff relocation project of the year in the UK

The handover of the building from the developer was late resulting in the challenge to reduce the 16 week programme to 10 weeks which pcm
consulting successfully achieved whilst accommodating numerous changes by the client to the internal layout.
The 10 week programme also included Easter and two Bank holidays in May.
Weekly meetings were held with the whole team (including client) and a status/contract report was logged onto a printable white board so that all
actions and decisions were distributed instantly.
Weekly reports using a “traffic light” system to identify any actions for the team, e.g.
green for complete or no issues;
amber for needs closely monitoring but not yet critical; and
red for an urgent problem
Highly proactive change management to minimise additional costs and delays.
There were a number of instances where it wasn’t just a case of moving a partition by a few metres but actually moving the accounts department from the 2nd floor west wing to the 5th floor east wing. The impact on these changes was not simply
moving partitions but also the substantial effect on ICT services.
I was delighted with your level of service and commitment and the original project at Honda Motor Europe's Corporate headquarters in Langley was quickly followed by a further appointment to manage the fitting out of our Honda Institute Building at Poyle, near Heathrow Airport. In due course pcm were asked by us to review the robustness and cost-effectiveness of our supply chain for the fitting out works in our dealership network. We now continue to employ pcm under a framework agreement to manage the delivery of our dealership renewal programme.
